IADR Award

Professor Fan, Pui Luen, Honorary Associate Professor in Applied Oral Sciences & Community Dental Care retrospectively received the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) Dental Materials Group 2018 Peyton-Skinner Award for Innovations to recognize his research achievements.

Professor Fan has been spending years of research at the American Dental Association (ADA) and the University of Michigan. His major projects included surface properties and interfacial properties of dental materials, optical properties of tooth enamel and dental restorative materials, photopolymerization of resin-based materials, properties of composites, amalgam waste management etc.

Currently, he is involved in the development of international standards (ISO) on dental products and is leading a working group to develop an international standard on protective filter devices for users of dental curing lights and the working group on fluoride varnishes.

Professor Fan is also alumnae in Science of the University of Hong Kong and formerly Senior Director of International Science and Standards, Division of Science, American Dental Association.

The Faculty congratulates Professor Fan on the recognition of his achievements and continuous contribution in dental materials research.
