Thank You Party: Special Thanks to Honorary & Part-time Teaching Staff

Faculty expresses the gratitude towards Honorary & Part-time teaching staff for taking time from their busy schedules to teach Faculty’s students.

The Faculty is planning a thank you party to show the appreciation of staff’s good efforts in the Faculty's teaching and learning in this academic year. The details are as below:

Awards and Achievements


Research Award Won by our Post-graduate Student

Ms Irene Shuping Zhao (PhD student in Operative Dentistry) was presented with the IADR Heraeus Kulzer Travel Award at the 95th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR in San Francisco, USA, March 22-25, 2017, for her research poster presentation titled “Secondary caries prevention using silver-diamine-fluoride treatment and CPP-ACP-modified glass-ionomer cement”, which was co-authored by Dr. May Lei Mei (HKU Faculty of Dentistry), Prof Michael F Burrow (HKU Faculty of Dentistry), Prof Edward Chin-Man Lo (HKU Faculty of Dentistry) and Prof Chun-Hung Chu (HKU Faculty of Dentistry). Her primary supervisor is Prof Chun-Hung Chu and her co-supervisors are Prof Michael F Burrow and Dr. May Lei Mei.

 
 

Two Endowed Professorships Conferred to our Clinical Professors

Kingboard Professorship in Advanced Dentistry
Professor Thomas F Flemmig Clinical Professor of Periodontology and the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry was conferred the Kingboard Professorship in Advanced Dentistry at The University of Hong Kong (HKU).

Professor Flemmig earned his dental degree at the University of Freiburg, and received training in Oral Surgery at the University of Hamburg and in Periodontology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a specialist in Periodontology, and holds a Doctorate degree in Medical Dentistry from the University of Freiburg, a Habilitation in Medical Dentistry from the University of Würzburg, and an MBA as well as a certificate in Health Sector Management from Duke University.

 

Tam Wah-Ching Professorship in Dental Science
Professor Edward CM Lo was conferred the Tam Wah-Ching Professorship in Dental Science

Professor Lo is Chair Professor of Dental Public Health, and Tam Wah-Ching Professor in Dental Science. Prof Lo is the second holder of this endowed professorship to succeed Prof. LP Samaranayake. This endowed professorship is the first one established in the Faculty of Dentistry and was made possible through a generous donation by Dr Tam Wah-Ching who is an eminent industrialist and philanthropist in Hong Kong.

New MOOC "Materials in Oral Health" starts on 25 April 2017

HKU MOOC lessons in "Materials in Oral Health" - contributed by Prof Vallittu (FRC), Prof Camilleri (MTA), Dr. Pow (Ceramics), Dr. Choi (Digital OMFS), Dr. Tian (Adhesion), Dr. Qiao (3D printing), Dr. James Tsoi (Digital Dentistry) and some more local and international speakers!
